Sometimes people contact us with questions that we know others will be wondering! As a result, we've put together a mini-explainer to help!

Today's question had to do with the awesome Naturepedic Breathable Crib mattresses! We love these mattresses for being made in the USA out of safe and organic materials!

There are a few choices of Breathable mattresses they offer: namely the Breathable and the Breathable Ultra. And to make things tricker, each option has two variations, the innerspring and the lightweight. Here's the skinny on what's what and how they differ!

The Breathable comes with one cover that is waterproof, breathable and washable. The Breathable Ultra has two covers, the waterproof protector pad for waterproofing and a nice, thicker ultra breathable cover for increased breathability that is also machine washable.

As for the difference between innerspring and lightweight -- Inside the mattresses, there are either metal coils or what Naturepedic calls “wave technology” which is a foam that zig zags to create the shape, structure and support of the mattress.

The foam is lighter than the metal coils. This means that it’s easier to lift the lighter mattress out of the crib when changing sheets. Some people, however, prefer the traditional coils.

Both of the innerspring versions of the Breathable and Breathable Ultra feature 252 coils, which gives baby lots of support and comfort, as numerous coils disperse the weight of the baby reducing pressure points.
