Restaurant Week: Family Friendly or Date Night, You Decide!
Wondering where to go with your fam this Restaurant Week(s) in NYC? We've listed some of our top picks that are both chic and family friendly enough for a special lunch with your tot in tow. Fast Table Chair highly recommended! If, however, you're more in the mood for some us-time (it is almost Valentine's Day after all), get a sitter and enjoy your date night with some good New York eats!

Here's a family-friendly eatery that's won the spot of top pick(le). Jacob's Pickles is a Southern-inspired restaurant that does a mean pickled vegetable (NY-ready kosher dill included) as well as grits and biscuits. If your appetite isn't already whetted, here's the Restaurant Week menu.
What would we order? I'm glad you asked. For starters, we think a fried pickle or perhaps a jumbo everything seasoned pretzel and dips may be the move (though if you go at dinner, their "choose four" pickle flight wins hands down). Then for the main, let your little nosh on a Maple Chicken and Toast while you enjoy a Southern Biscuit and think warm thoughts! Finish it off with an Oreo Pie Jar and a slice of Seasonal Fresh Baked Pie. Perfection! 680 Columbus Ave. Manhattan, NY, 10025, NYC
Feeling extra chic? Maybe head to Dowling's at the Carlyle and indulge in a swanky 2-course lunch or 3-course dinner by Executive Chef Sylvain Delpique at the iconic NY establishment. If you don't make it for lunch or dinner, we recommend Afternoon Tea for a special family nosh of finger sandwiches and sweets, pinkies up. And special it is, indeed, as it features an illustrator who's on site, there to capture your special moment real time. You even get a memento sketch to take home. 35 E 76th Street, NYC

We all know that Restaurant Week is the time to check out NYC institutions that you've always heard about but never had the occasion to indulge. If you haven't been to Delmonico's this is prime time (though really, there's little excuse: It's been around since 1837!). Start with the Winter Soup or maybe some caramelized bacon, then on to the Signature Delmonico Ribeye, or for veggies the Mushroom Risotto. And for dessert, the Baked Alaska, which was created in Delmonico's kitchens in 1867, exclamation point. 56 Beaver St, NYC

We can't help but be enamored of the Ukrainian, family-owned (3 generations) East Village darling, Veselka. (Catch up on its history by watching their documentary, Veselka: The Rainbow on the Corner at the Center of the World, streaming on Prime.) The food is great and atmosphere warm and welcoming yet distinctly NY chic. Enjoy a cup of their house-made soup to start, followed by meatballs or vegetarian Reuben potato pancakes. Sweeten it up at the end with some Baked Chocolate Custard or a slice of Classic Carrot Cake. смачно! 144 Second Avenue, NYC

Be a tourist for a day and head to the Central Park Boathouse for lunch during Restaurant Week. This cultural landmark sits within New Yorkers' favorite playground, perched on a pond on which once upon a time, a boat rental would cost 40 cents per hour. It's now a popular spot for model sailboat racing. As for the special Restaurant Week Menu, it's only a 2-courser for $45.
But don't be alarmed, after filling up on clam chowder and a Faroe Island Salmon at the Boathouse, if your sweet tooth beckons, you are not far from Levain Bakery and their ginormous (and delicious) chocolate chip cookies. East 72nd St + Park Dr N, NYC
