What's The Difference Between the Callisto G 360 vs. Callisto Select

You may have heard the Callisto Select is on its way to the States to give new parents even more options when it comes to convertible car seats (and when we say convertible, we mean it!). But how does the Callisto G 360 compare to the new Callisto Select? Let's dive in.

Key Takeaways

  • The Callisto Select is a more minimalist version of the Callisto G 360. The Callisto Select is essentially the same seat but without the breathable fabrics, sun canopy, SensorSafe technology, magnetic buckle holders and flip-forward buckle pad of the Callisto G 360.
  • The Callisto Select offers the same key safety features as it has the SafetyAssure Protection System, and it's super convenient thanks to the  360 degree rotation in any recline position. On top of that, it's easy to install (you can do it in seconds) due to the SafeLock System.
  • The Callisto Select, like the Callisto G 360 by Cybex can be configured as an infant seat, a rear facing convertible seat, forward facing convertible seat and even a booster seat.
  • Your baby won't grow out of the Callisto Select (much like the Callisto G 360) until they're 120 lbs!

Callisto G vs. Callisto Select: Differences

Wondering how the Callisto Select stacks up to to the Callisto G 360? Although the seats are substantially similar, there are some key differences. They've mostly taken out a few comfort related features to offer a simplified seat for a little less money.

  • Callisto Select does not feature the same breathable fabrics as the Callisto G 360.
  • Callisto Select does not have a sun canopy integrated onto the seat, so it might be a bit sunnier ride.
  • Callisto Select does not feature SensorSafe technology that the Callisto G 360 has, which means you don't have an automatic warning if the car is too hot or the child has been left in the backseat.
  • Callisto Select does not feature the magnetic buckle holders and flip forward buckle pad that makes getting your child buckled in a bit easier.
  • The Callisto Select is $649 instead of $749.

Callisto G vs. Callisto Select: Similarities

Other than the above, Cybex's Callisto G 360 and Callisto Select are pretty similar.

Safety

Both models feature the SafetyAssure Protection System. This, according to Cybex, makes both seats 37% safer in a crash, based on head and chest injury metrics as compared to the same seat without these features.

Convenience

Both seats offer 360 degree rotation in any recline position. This makes it super easy to load and unload your most precious cargo (your baby!)

Installation

An easy install makes the seat safer and more convenient at the end of the day. The SafeLock System --- a feature of both the Callisto Select and the Callisto G 360 ---makes it a snap to install. It can be done in mere seconds.

Functionality

Both seats will take your baby the distance. From infancy, use the seat as a rear facing infant seat. As your baby grows, it becomes a rear facing convertible seat, and then a forward facing convertible seat.

Both the Callisto Select and the Callisto G 360 can be also configured as a booster seat, accommodating children up to 120 pounds.

Style

Although the Callisto G 360 offers a range of colors (almond beige, moon black, stone grey, ocean blue, and stormy blue), the Callisto Select only comes in black and stone grey.

Which Callisto Is Right For You?

As for which Callisto is right for you between the Callisto Select and the Callisto G 360, it's a personal decision. We love some of the extra features of the G, but understand that with a price tag of $749 it may not be for everyone.

Think about how much you would need the canopy, and whether you'd use the SensorSafe.

The good news is that either way, you've got yourself an amazing car seat. This is our "go to" for city folk that have a car.

We suggest a bucket seat (separate one like the Liingo by Clek or Cloud G/ Cloud T by Cybex for taxi rides and Ubers for the first year as we think you'll probably be getting around the city sometimes without your car.

But for when you do take your car, why not this amazing "jack of all car seats" that's super stylish and safe? As we said it will take you the distance.

Note, if you don't have a car, this isn't the car seat for you: it's too big and heavy. We suggest you come on down to Babesta and talk with one of our stylists about the best options for you!
