How is a mini crib different from a bassinet?

A mini crib is a more durable and longer-lasting option than a bassinet. The Origami Mini is safe from newborn through 35" in height or until your baby starts to climb — well past the 18-month ceiling of most bassinets. It also accepts a proper mini crib mattress rather than a bassinet pad, providing a more supportive sleep surface as your baby grows.

What size mattress does it take?

Standard mini crib size: 37" × 23.5". A 1" waterproof mattress pad is included in the box. For additional support, Babyletto recommends their Pure hypoallergenic and eco-conscious mini crib mattress in that size. Ask us what's available in-store.

Does it really fold flat? How compact is it?

Yes. The Origami Mini folds flat for storage or transport. This makes it genuinely useful for grandparent visits, secondary spaces, or simply reclaiming a room when it's not in active use. The removable locking caster wheels also detach for a more compact fold.

Can I roll it between rooms while the baby is sleeping?

The caster wheels are designed for room-to-room transport — roll to wherever you need to be, then lock. We'd recommend transferring a sleeping baby carefully, as with any movement. Always lock the wheels before leaving the crib unattended.

How do the two mattress height positions work?

The higher position is easiest for placing and lifting a newborn. Lower the mattress to the second position as your baby learns to sit and stand, to keep the rail height safe as they become more mobile.

When should my baby transition out of the Origami Mini?
