Stokke Sleepi V2 vs. V3
One of our all-time favorite cribs for city families is Stokke’s iconic Sleepi Crib. It’s recently got an update, and we thought it good to explain it to you so that you don’t hit any compatibility issues. Note, on Stokke’s site they refer to the crib as a “bed” but for purposes of this post, we’re going to use the term “crib” as it will be less confusing.
How To Buy A Sleepi
Before we go through the differences between the V2 and V3, we want to cover the different options you have in purchasing your Sleepi.
You can either purchase the Sleepi as a crib from the get-go or you can opt for the uber-adorable Sleepi Mini and the extension kit that allows the circular bassinet to grow into the Sleepi Crib when the time is right.
It’s especially important to know your version if you’re about to change from a bassinet to a crib, as there can be compatibility issues. Basically a V2 Mini will not work with a V3 extension kit, and a V3 Mini will not work with the V2 extension kit.
Mattresses and sheets will have to sync up with the version you have as well.
If you have a V2 mini or if you’re extending a V2 mini into a crib and need the extension, we have them in-store for 20% off. If you want to buy the whole Mini+Conversion kit on sale, we’d suggest you purchase both parts at the same time to make sure there’s stock.
How To Tell The Difference Between The V2 And V3
In short: it’s all about the size.
Sleepi V2
With the V2, there are four different “modes” of the Sleepi, allowing the bed the ability to grow with the child until they are 10. First you’d use the Mini, then switch to the Crib by using the extension kit.
When the baby shows interest in climbing out of the crib, you’ll have to remove a side for a toddler bed. As they grow out of that, you purchase a second extension (and mattress) to make the Sleepi Junior Bed.
Accessories that you must make sure are V2
- Extension kit
- Crib mattress
- Crib sheets
- Crib protector
Accessories that can be V2 or V3
- Mini protection sheet
- Mini sheets
Sleepi V3
With the new V3, the folks at Stokke make it a bit less complicated. We knew at Babesta that while many people love this bassinet/crib when the baby is small, by the time they’re big enough for a big bed, they were not opting to purchase the extension kit to make the crib into a Junior Bed.
The V3 does away with the Junior bed conversion and instead makes the crib itself bigger by about five inches, giving your toddler more time in their toddler bed. This was a great choice by the company that read aptly what those who love the sleek styling of Stokke were really clamoring for.
All you need is the Sleepi Mini V3 and the Sleepi V3 Extension or simply the Sleepi V3 Crib and you're set.
Accessories that you must make sure are V2
- Extension kit
- Crib mattress
- Crib sheets
- Crib protector
Accessories that can be V2 or V3
- Mini protection sheet
- Mini sheets
