UppaBaby V3 vs V2: What's the Difference?
OK, now that we’ve let the V3 breathe for a second, it’s time to face it off to it’s earlier incarnation. That's right, we're talking UppaBaby V3 vs. V2.
For those of you who are already pushing a V2 but you’ve had it a few years, you’re wondering, do I stick? Or do I refresh. For those new to the market, you're wondering, do I go for the deal or get the latest?
Hopefully our blog will help you decide what’s the best move for you!
UppaBaby V3 vs. V2: Stroller Differences
So before we start, it’s important to say that these strollers are not radically different and that both are great choices for city families.
However, as with any update, the V3 feels sleeker and more intentional with some new features — the engineers at Uppa certainly delved into the details and delivered an even more aesthetic and functional ride.
Let’s take a look as to how each of the model differs specifically.
Fabrics
First of all, the fabrics. Color is probably the least important difference, but for those who have their heart set on a hue, it might matter!
UppaBaby V3
The V3’s selection shaved off some of the old colors in the V2 in favor of newer shades and different fabrics. The old favorites that carried over include:
- Jake
- Greyson
- Gwen
- Theo
- Declan
And introducing:
- Callum (blue)
- Kenzi (green)
- Savannah (white/off white)
You’ll see that the Kenzi and Savannah are a different type of fabric, with a colorful speckle if you look close. They’re really lovely!
UppaBaby V2
The V2’s colorway is lovely as well. Colors include:
- Jake
- Greyson
- Declan
- Lucy
- Gwen
- Anthony
- Noa
- Theo
Keep in mind at this point, since many V2 colors are sold out, the choices are getting more limited by the day.
Frame
The frame is another difference between the UppaBaby V3 vs. V2.
UppaBaby V3
The V3 features a more elegant frame with “Vista” written in a bubble font which is new. The part of the frame that adjusts to accommodate the person pushing is also a shiny aluminum instead of matte.
UppaBaby V2
The UppaBaby V2 features a frame that is matte with the logo in a regular font. The adjustable part of the stroller frame is also matte.
Suspension
UppaBaby V3
The UppaBaby V3 features enhanced FlexRide Suspension, meaning the the ride is even smoother. It’s surprisingly light and easy to stroll, handling expertly on the streets.
UppaBaby V2
The V2’s suspension is all-wheel and is quite good as well. However, the push is a bit heavier in comparison.
Bassinet
The big differences when it comes to the bassinet are breathability and whether it comes with the stroller.
UppaBaby V3
The new UppaBaby V3 bassinet offers more breathability. It features quick zip cross ventilation panels that can be opened for greater airflow or closed for warmth. On top of that, the foam free mattress is made of mesh so that breathability is maximized for overnight sleep safe sleeping.
There’s also a vented window on the base and mesh panels and an extendable UPF 50+ sunshade! The bassinet (and the rest of the stroller) is GREENGUARD Gold Certified, as well, ensuring healthier air quality and low chemical emissions.
The bassinet mattress is also mesh and fully breathable with the new V3.
Note the other big difference is that the UppaBaby V3 bassinet is sold separately now — no longer coming included with the purchase of the stroller.
UppaBaby V2
The V2 bassinet features a perforated bassinet mattress pad, vented base and canopy, making it breathable. It also features an extendable pop out UPF 50+ sunshade.
With the UppaBaby V2, the bassinet comes in the box, automatically included in the purchase.
Seat & Harness
There are also a few differences between the UppaBaby V3 vs V2 when it comes to the toddler seat.
UppaBaby V3
The new seat for the UppaBaby V3 is “all weather” featuring a seasonal seat liner for cooler days and mesh for warmer ones. To keep baby safe, the stroller also features a magnetic “quick to secure” harness system that’s easy to adjust thanks to the no-rethread harness.
UppaBaby V2
Although it does not offer as much when it comes to ventilation, the full size reversible toddler seat is roomy and comfortable.
The buckled harness is no-rethread similar to the V3 so it’s pretty easy to adjust. The buckle requires the caregiver to click in the various straps, which is not hard, but not as easy peasy as the V3's magnetic buckle.
UppaBaby V3 vs. V2: Price Differences
Beyond features, when facing off the UppaBaby V3 vs V2, another thing you want to look at is price. The new V3 is $899, sold without the bassinet. The additional V3 bassinet is another $200.
In contrast, the V2, that was originally $999 with the stroller and the bassinet, has been marked down to $799 with everything. It’s a pretty great deal.
